The Final of the Stan James World Matchplay at the Winter Gardens, Blackpool, will be between Barney and Taylor. The semi-finals did not produce the darts we all expected, first match Wade v Barney, although Wade started the better of the two players, it was Barney's patience, coolness, that paid off, he let the throw, the action come to him, he did not, like in recent times look for answers when the scoring wasn't there, he calmly got on with his task, with a average of 99.42 and the propest of playing Taylor in today's final, he has the game to push Taylor, the problem is, will he push him to new heights, we will have to see. Barney 17 Wade 8. Taylor 17 Whitlock 4. Whitlock's consistent scoring on the treble 20 bed was not there, he looked uncomfortable and nervous against an opponent he knew would not give him anything, the score line says it all, Taylor superb, whitlock, maybe needs a break. The final: SKY TV in 3D. Taylor v Barney. Bring it on.

The top 8 of the Stan James world Matchplay at Blackpool saw the 2 Dutchmen Co Stope and Barney play each other, it was atight fought match for a long time, and it looked like it could go on for hours, Barney managed to break away after the 20th leg, Stope failing to respond, score: Barney 16 Stope 12. James Wade discovered his old form against Wayne Jones to take the match by the same score line 16-12, Wade impressed with an average of 97.93,and he was pleased to get past Jones who has a good record against him in recent matches. Whitlock clinicaly brushed aside the challenge of the 3rd Dutchman in the top 8, Klaasen, Whitlocks determined, deliberate style of play was too good for the fast throwing, often off line Klaasen, score 16-8. Taylor cruised to a comfortable win against Painter, who did not perform to his best, Taylor put the presure on from the start, and never eased up,crossing the finish line with an average of 103.31 and a 16-4 winner. The semi-finals will be: Wade v Barney. Taylor v Whitlock. both games should be great viewing, and for the first time Darts will be shown in 3D.

The standard of play in the World Matchplay is good to say the least, last nights matches produced games of equality, without the exception of Taylor. Klaasen opened the nights play against Anderson, and the match went quickly to Klaasen who led 6-2, Anderson then produced 5 winninglegs to go into the lead, at 13-12 to Klaasen Anderson had 5 chances to hit the double and level the match, he failed and Klaasen moved into the top 8. Painter v Walsh, a match alwats expected to be close, Walsh led 4-1, but found himself level at 12-12, the stage where one player has to win by 2 clear legs, it was Painter who held his nerve, and will now face Taylor in the top 8. Taylor v Beaton, Beaton made a great start to this match winning the first leg in 12 darts, and taking the second to go 2 up, Taylor then in his own words "Dusted himself down and got going" Beaton did take 2 more legs, but Taylor was superb and was never going to get beaten, hee is looking more and more like the champions come Sunday.
